As your kids head back to school, you may already be anticipating the hassles. Fortunately, the team at Essential Massage Therapy in New Jersey knows all about stress, hassle, and how to beat them both! Read on to find out some tips for making this back to school season a breeze!

Fuel Up

Too many kids start their day with their tank on empty—fill them up with healthy, wholesome foods for a productive day of learning! If your kids aren’t keen on food in the morning, try some of these healthy ideas to boost their appetites: make smoothies, create an “on the go” breakfast, or cut up favorites fruits into fun-shaped slices. Snap a photo of the first day of school—older kids and teens might roll their eyes, but you and they will appreciate it many years down the line.

Drive Safe

Make sure to follow all rules regarding seatbelts, safety seat, and child restraints! Once you’re driving, use the drive time to share a great pep talk, challenge kids to a spelling test, or sing your favorite songs. For a relaxing drive, try aromatherapy diffusers in your car! Coming to school relaxed and prepared feels great!

Love and Lunch

Lunch was packed the night before… right? We love to add a little surprise to the kids lunches, such as a note or a funny face drawn on a sandwich with ketchup. Most importantly, find ways to encourage healthy eating and hydration throughout the day.

Decompress

Parents, doctors, and babysitters all agree: the after-school time can be the worst! If you find that arguments, tantrums, and problems happen right after school, stress is your likely culprit. Many kids keep going past the final school bells with extracurriculars, and come home tired, hungry, and cranky—many adults also suffer from this problem. Make this a time for relaxation, whether that involves naps for the little ones (and often teens!), or a quiet place to recharge. In our massage therapy office in Sparta, we use aromatherapy to help set and maintain calm moods, and bringing these tools into your home can help as well.
